Welcome to the “Kite Academy Trust”.
We set up our Academy in October 2015 with five, local, good and outstanding schools wanting to collaborate at all levels to provide the very best for all of our children, families and staff. I am very proud to be the CEO of an academy where like-minded and ambitious headteachers, staff, governors and board members are working together to provide this.
Each school, within the Trust, both collaborates and has its own voice thus ensuring that the uniqueness of each school is preserved. This has been achieved through the Trust’s clear and open governance set up in the scheme of delegation. For any new school joining the Trust this collaboration and participation is essential.
In our first year of operation we have developed opportunities for our children to learn together across the MAT. This has included joining together for a science and technology competition, a ukulele concert, outdoor learning, themed day and a friendship day where our Year 2 leavers had extra time together, before moving to their Junior schools, to support transition.
We have developed networks of staff working together, supporting each other to develop high quality education across the MAT. The Trust wants to be “employer of choice” and develop staff through high quality CPD and development opportunities within the MAT. Our joint staff meetings and INSET days support all staff to have a shared understanding and then work together to develop skills. We are currently developing a cost effective administrative team to deliver efficiency, effectiveness and growing economies of scale in order to free up more resources.
Our Children’s Centre enables us to support families with very young children and then we can continue this support through providing shared learning opportunities for all of our families once the children are at school. As part of our organisation we also have three Nursery provisions which provide the foundations of education for children from the age of two. One of our main aims is to be inclusive and this is evident in all of our schools who cater for the needs of children with various special needs. As part of the Kite we also have a specialist provision for children with specific communication needs. Our COIN centre has provision for 14 identified children. The high quality specialist staff that are employed for this provision are also able to support other staff across the MAT who may be working with children needing extra speech and communication input within a mainstream setting.
On 1st December 2016 we welcomed Holly Lodge Primary School into the Kite and look forward to working with them in the development of both a high quality education provision and a first class learning environment across all our schools.
In this time of rapid change, the collaborative working has supported us all to move forward, with a clear focus on improving leadership and governance, and teaching and learning, to raise standards. We have a dedicated, strong Board of Directors which provides the effective support and challenge required to ensure that the Trust is successful as we move forward. I look forward to an exciting future!
