The Kite art and design curriculum focuses on drawing, painting and sculpture, enabling pupils to become fluent and proficient in skills such as mark marking, before applying this knowledge to their own pieces of artwork. In each unit of work, pupils study a different art movement and artist, before having an opportunity to recreate a portion of the artist’s artwork and finally using their own creativity and knowledge to create an independent piece of work. By studying a wide range of artists, art movements and media, the pupils deepen and broaden their understanding of what classifies as art.
